Charlotte Copp

Head Coach

Charlotte Copp: Charlotte Copp is approaching her seventh season with the Pacific Rowing Team, and fourth year as Head Coach. Over the past six years she has seen the community on the rowing team grow and strengthen and is most proud of the team culture as well as their technical ability. In her first two years as Head Coach, she nearly tripled the roster size, put an emphasis on accessibility in rowing, encouraged an “any seat, any time” mindset on the team, and brought the team to have more pacific rowing records then ever before. Pacific University Rowing placed third in the Northwest Conference Championships spring 2024 where Charlotte was also awarded Northwest Conference Coach of the Year.

During the summers she coaches Learn to Row for adults at Station L Rowing in Portland and continues to race competitively out of Portland Boat Club in the single. Charlotte wants to be able to bring rowing to other communities, especially the great Pacific University community because the access to rowing is so limited farther from Portland you are.

Copp walked on to the rowing team with no experience at Lewis & Clark in the Northwest Conference and in her senior season she earned All-NWC honors and was team captain on the Pioneers who finished fourth at the NWC Championships. Her career was highlighted by placing #6 on the all-time 2K record board and winning a bronze medal in the Double at the WIRA Championships in Sacramento, CA. Other highlights include stroking the varsity 8 in 2018, going to the grand finals in the V8 at WIRA in 2017 with record breaking speed at Lewis & Clark, and winning the petite finals in the V8 at WIRA by over 10 seconds in 2016.

She earned her bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from Lewis & Clark which she enjoys using when partnering with Washington County Parks and Rec.
